We started off in a perfectly acceptable manner. I had breakfast ready for the team who packed me out - even did the laundry for one of their team members. They were in a rush, but aren't all packers. Off my shipment went, and it was promised for delivery in 'five or six weeks,' as we had discussed during the initial walk through and agreement.
I hustled, paid translators to take care of necessary documents, and made sure all was ready for the promised delivery window.
After the delivery date passed, I queried as to where my shipment was and learned, 'We did not realize it had not been delivered.' I knew things were going downhill.
How could a mover not know where a client's shipment was? Why was a shipment seemingly lost?
The 'why' can be found in a couple of places. First, ReloSwiss had an unreliable partner in Turkiye, ProTrans. They 'had had problems before,' but had not ended the relationship, for whatever reasons. Certainly, they will solve this, but too late for me. They were not able to get them on the phone, and the ProTrans agent assigned was suddenly 'sick' and then went 'on leave.'
Second, ReloSwiss was just too slow to realize there was a problem, and I was the one doing the calling. In fact, when I asked for someone to call me back, no one did - I had to call them. More than once.
At one point, no one was sure where my shipment was and ReloSwiss asked for a photo of it to prove that it had not been lost in a fire or flood. The photo did not arrive, at least to me.
Toward the end of things, when it became obvious that the Istanbul side had a huge problem, there was a bit more action; however, simply 'replying all' with my email and adding the word 'Urgent' was not the best strategy. Again, I had to do the calling to the management of ProTrans.
Of course, there will be excuses and reasons and all sorts of explanations as to the nature of moving.
It was a fourteen-hundred mile move. In North America, that's a two-to-three day drive for snowbirds from Toronto heading to Florida. It's not a two-to-three month adventure.
Just days before delivery, the ReloSwiss-chosen partner, ProTrans, asked for my address. Needless to say, that information had been given well over a month in advance.
The delay in this whole process caused significant problems, as the boxes arrived after my new job started. Not ideal at all. The delivery team at least left me a box cutter so that I could open the boxes. There were indications of sympathy, but those don't help unpack boxes while doing a full-time job, nor do they reflect a true understanding of the difficulties this delay caused. This kind of lackluster response makes one wonder if anyone who works for either ReloSwiss or their chosen partner ProTrans has ever done a truly international move.
All in all, I could not in good conscience recommend ReloSwiss. Maybe for an easy move, within Switzerland.
I am sure they will reflect on this experience to think about meeting and exceeding customer expectations, the importance of on-going communication, and focusing on the customer experience. It's too late for me, though.Read more

I hired Reloswiss for an international move from Switzerland to Egypt. While the Swiss side was handled decently, everything fell apart once the shipment reached Cairo.
Their partner in Egypt demanded EGP 120,000 in advance, without any detailed breakdown. In reality, the actual customs charges were under EGP 18,000, as I later discovered when I handled the entire clearance and delivery myself. I had to repay everything: customs fees, airport storage penalties, truck rental, and labor — despite having already paid over CHF 7,000 for a full door-to-door service.
Reloswiss completely refused to take responsibility, claiming I didn’t cooperate and was “rude” to their Egyptian partner. According to them, everything is my fault because I questioned the EGP 120,000 and refused to pay blindly. They now say the service failed because of me, not them.
In other words, they expect you to obey blindly, even when it’s clear you’re being manipulated. And if you don’t, they’ll wash their hands and leave you with double the cost.
To make things worse, they mishandled my legal documents, pretending an error in my name on the customs forms, which nearly blocked the release of my shipment. This “mistake” was a clear pretext used to create fake obstacles and justify illegitimate charges — a classic extortion tactic.
Here’s what really happened:
The shipment arrived at Cairo International Airport on July 28. However, their partner in Cairo delayed the clearance until Saturday, August 2 — a public holiday when most governmental offices are understaffed or closed. As a result, I had no choice but to personally take over on Sunday, August 3, which is the start of the work week in Egypt. Had the shipment been released on July 29, 30 or 31, this unnecessary delay could have been avoided.
Because of this, I incurred over EGP 19,000 in airport storage fees, which I should never have had to pay. These charges were entirely due to their negligence and unjustified inaction.
Despite six email warnings I sent on the day of the incident, and formal complaints filed to consumer and international moving federations (FRC, IAM, FIATA), Reloswiss continues to ignore the facts and refuses any form of compensation.
I asked for a modest 25% refund (CHF 1,700), which they flatly rejected — even though the service at destination was never rendered. They blame me to protect their partner and avoid any reimbursement.
As of now, legal proceedings have been initiated in Switzerland for breach of contract, bad faith, and professional negligence.
Reloswiss gave me zero support. They let their partner demand illegal payments, refused to act when things went wrong, and left me to pay everything again at destination.
They may look professional on the outside, but once they have your money, you’re on your own.

But that was it.
The detailed planning revealed the first weaknesses. The communication with the subcontractor in the target country was quickly discontinued and outsourced.
But, the worst was the handling on site. This subcontractor in Switzerland was in no way able to fulfill the administrative requirements for the embassy. It was invited frantically without any consideration.
RELOSWISS did not take any responsibility for the procedures of the invitation.
We had to coordinate everything ourselves. In the end, my wife and I spent two full working days each supervising the work.wn. ubd meeting the administrative requirements.
The whole loading of furniture ubd goods was a chaos. RELOSWISS was always available but not in the lead.
The packaging was not fit for overseas or our goods otherwise got wet.
Very good, however, was the coordination of the logistics chain by RELOSWISS.
The subcontractor in the recipient country did a decent job. But
the additional costs were far above the forecast and once again Reloswiss did not feel responsible to clarify things with the supplier in the interest of the customer.Read more
We fully understand how important a smooth and timely move is — especially when starting a new job and transitioning into a new environment. We are deeply sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations, and more importantly, did not reflect the standards we aim to uphold.
Regarding the delay of your shipment, we would like to clarify that unfortunately, this particular move was handled as part of a groupage transport, meaning that your consignment was shipped together with other shipments in a consolidated truck. This method naturally involves certain limitations, particularly around flexibility and timing.
Our logistics partner in Türkiye operates a fixed schedule, with typically two groupage trucks per month departing from Europe. Your shipment was originally planned for the earlier departure, but due to a missing customs document at that time, it could not be loaded. The risk of the shipment being held at customs — potentially for an extended period — was too great, and in such situations, we must prioritize compliance with international regulations over schedule adherence.
Regrettably, this resulted in your consignment missing the first available transport and being scheduled for the next possible departure.
We want to be transparent in stating that we had no direct influence over the customs clearance process or the departure timing of the truck. That said, we absolutely acknowledge that the delay in identifying the issue and the lack of proactive communication on our side was unacceptable. For that, we are truly sorry.
We fully agree that our response time, as well as the communication during this period, should have been much more prompt, clear, and supportive. You were left to follow up yourself multiple times, and that should never be the case — particularly not during a stressful international relocation.
Please be assured that we are currently reviewing this case in detail with both our internal team and our partner in Türkiye. This includes evaluating our communication processes and escalation protocols to ensure we can act faster and more transparently in the future.
While we know this does not undo the challenges you faced, we hope it at least helps clarify the circumstances and shows our commitment to improvement.
We thank you once again for your feedback and wish you all the very best in your new role and home.
With sincere apologies,
RELOSWISSRead more
